Dedication Service

On Saturday 7th May 2016 we held the official dedication ceremony, and opened the memorial for the use of the village. Hundreds of villagers and guests of honour turned out to pay their respects to our war dead.

The Band of The Parachute Regiment played during the dedication service and afterwards at the reception in the Courtauld Hall, and the children of St Andrews School sang a beautiful song they had written specially for the event. The unveiling of the plinth was followed by the reading of the names of all those from the village who have lost their lives in conflict.

We thank our sponsors again for making our dreams of giving this beautiful village a place to remember the fallen, a reality.

August 2015 - Some excellent news!!

We are delighted to announce that The Colne Engaine War Memorial Fund has just been awarded £13,500 from The Braintree & District Council Mi Community fund. This is a major step forward for the project and takes our total raised to £19,500. We will have to have all the funds raised by end of September for the fund to be enacted, but with the support you have shown us and the support we are sure you will continue to show, we are confident of achieving this. We thank Braintree & District Council for their faith in the project and thank all of you who have helped us achieve this significant mile stone. Please continue with your support and who knows, maybe the memorial can be built this year?

June 2015 - Colne Engaine declares independence (well, just for the day...)

Thank you to everyone who came along to our (somewhat soggy) wartime fete as part of Colne Engaine's Independece Day; a wonderful day was had by all and it really pushed us a lot closer to our fundraising target! For all the images from the day,and the Independence Day dinner dance, have a look at the event page

April 2015 - Essex Jailbreak

Once again the 2 CEWM teams were delighted to be taking part in the Essex Jailbreak in aid of Essex Boys & Girls Clubs and the Colne Engaine War Memorial Project.

Our teams had 15 hours to get as far as possible and raise as much money as they can without spending a penny - and they got to have great fun while they are at it!

One team explored Essex raising funds along the way, while our other team made it 1915 (no joke) miles away to Galipoli.
