Independence Day & 1940s Dinner Dance
Saturday 20 June 2015 - Colne Engaine
The village was out in force for the CEWM Project's biggest fundraiser of 2015.
Colne Engaine declared independence and no amount of rain was going to stop us having a wonderful day!
Thank you to all those who came and got into the spirit of it all, changing your money to 'Coneos' - our own currency, joining us for a rousing rendition of the National Anthem, doing the Lambeth Walk with the fantastic A2 Jive dancers, enjoying a spot of shopping in our market and discovering the numerous wartime vehicles on display.
The fun didn't stop when the sun went down, if anything the party was only just beginning!
The Independent State of Colne Engaine 1940s dinner dance!
This sell-out event saw our guests turn back the clock and enjoy an evening of wartime entertainment.
The authentic wartime banquet was served whilst enjoying wonderful entertainment from singing sensations Fox, Wiggle & Sass and the team from A2 Jive, who taught us all a few wartime dances!
We had an auction of some very unique items and an auction in aid of FACES (Friends at Colne Engaine School)
With an emotional rendition of the new village national anthem to end the evening, we couldn't have had a better time. Thank you to all our sponsors and everyone who came to support us, we are hopeful we've now reacfhed our fundraising target (or very near to!) All together now, one last time, doing the Lambeth Walk OI!
